ONE FILM, ONE NOVEL, MANY SONGS
Each episode of Merge traces and weaves together beforelives and afterlives through literature, cinema, family archives, via sound. It considers how we inherit, remix, and remember—how sound carries the sediment of who we’ve been and the dream of who we’re becoming.
Listening becomes a form of citation, a ritual of care, and a site of return. The poetics of quotidian Black Life from the sacrosanct to the ratchet unfolds through the visual and the verbal, revealing how stories linger in vibration, refracting across time, medium, and collective imagination. Part fête, part cipher—a space to witness how the sonic archive continues to hum beneath our histories, composing new constellations of belonging and possibility.
